The handsome red brick building at the eastern entrance to town is the Great Cobar Heritage Centre. It houses the visitor Information Centre and the museum. On the site of the Great Cobar Copper Mine, once one of the mightiest industries in Australia, its detailed and engaging displays tell the stories of Cobar from the Indigenous perspective through the foundation of the town and its on-going mining and pastoral industries.
